Yes, you read the title correctly folks, I have the new version of Ovi Map, Version 3.03 installed on my Nokia N86 8MP. After the press release and announcement event this morning, of the free navigation included with the new Ovi Maps, us N86 owners were left dejected after realising that our beloved devices had been left out in the cold by Nokia.
Well, I have some good news for you, I have just downloaded and installed the E52 version of Ovi Maps, available from http://maps.nokia.com/explore-services/ovi-maps and I can confirm it is working fine so far. You will need to download the actual SIS file, and not get the text message download or else it won’t work.

You do need at least 20MB free of internal memory on the C: though, so a good way of freeing up some valuable space, is to clear the cache in your browser, and uninstall any applications that you don’t use anymore.
I’ll report back if I find any problems soon.
Of course, don’t do this if you are worried of the consequences of it possibly bricking your phone, and also make sure you do a backup beforehand.
Let us know any feedback in the comments.

Yup – did exactly this myself, about ten minutes after the actual Nokia announcement went out lunchtime or so.
Weird thing is, it's running FLAWLESSLY for me, on my N86, but using the E52/E72 .sis file, yet actual E52/E72 users are reporting various sync/Facebook Integration/username/password issues, whilst using the correct phone, and the actual correct file. How ironic is that?
Mmmm.
Now all we need is a FP1 ready version of the .sis file (unless I'm already overlooking one, I'm off to look again next), so that we can put this on our older devices, a la N95, N82 etc as well.

Tried it out last night properly in the car, and works great for me too. Don't think the compass works properly though, but I can live without that. I haven't seen a FP1 sis yet at all, and TBH I'm not sure there ever will be one, although I hope I am wrong on that.

Anyone knows if this is possible for N82?

I don't think anyone has got it working on a FP1 device yet. However, Nokia do say they will be adding more devices in time, but as to which devices exactly is anyone's guess…..

Have done this and have it running but can't access foreign maps even though I've downloaded France.
French towns don't appear in the search – any ideas?

it was no problem to install it on my N86, after the installation i have 45,6 MB free Space on C:
BTW i have the 21.006 further had the 20.005
I only deinstalled the old cards and the older version, then installed the
http://nds1.nokia.com/PRODUCT_METADATA_0/Explor...
and then put with Ovi suite and Maploader the new cards on it and then it worked. Was driving 400km to the lake of constance with nearly no problems ( only one card problem directed me in the wrong (forbidden direction) but as we know we should not only follow the Navi it was no problem))
The compass works with pressing the 5 at walking Navi the compass changes his colour at driving Navi it only shows the right direction, but does not change colour or turns the display, otherwise it would be difficult to navigate and drive.
Best wishes Mav
