Since the Ovi Store botched launch a few months ago, users have been bemoaning that quite a few features are either not working, or just plain not implemented.
Just recently, I have read a number of forum threads from users complaining of an inability to login to the Ovi Store. Ordinarily I’d just count them as muppet syndrome, of someone not being able to use T9 correctly. However, the problem is far too common IMO to just be a user derived problem.
One of the features that was seriously lacking from the store, was the ability to re-download applications. So, say for instance you are downloading an application, that you have just spent a small fortune on, only to lose your data connection for whatever reason, and the download is aborted. No problemo you may think, I’ll just go and download it again. Not so. Not at the Ovi Store you won’t. They couldn’t be bothered to implement that feature.
Well, that was until yesterday. Rafe and Steve over at AllAboutSymbian are reporting that the re-download feature has now been added, although with a few caveats. You definitely have to have Ovi Store client 1.05(271) or later, and even then it may not work at the moment.
So, a cautious ‘well done’ to Nokia for finally listening to customers, and implementing some new stuff. Now please listen further to your customers and add a ‘Shitty App’ section to the store please, to put all the crappy ringtones, and irritating fart apps so your customers don’t have to trawl through all that to get to the valuable content.
